FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please contact us to set up an evaluation meeting and assessments for your child. Once your student is accepted into the program, you will need to complete their registration packet, as well as submit deposit & admission fees. Enrollment with Excel Academy or as an independent homeschool student is a separate required process we can help walk you through.
Please contact us for current pricing. For eligible students, state funding through a homeschool charter like Excel Academy can be used toward LPAA’s tutoring & training fees. The Urban Workshop optional elective is an additional $800 per 12 week course, and state funding can also be used to pay for it.
Monday through Thursday, our program is 9am-2:30pm at Redline Athletics Anaheim/Fullerton. Our students will have speed, agility, strength & recovery training available to them every day from 10:30am-12pm. Before and after that, they will have learning blocks dedicated to doing their online curriculum with teaching assistance in math, ELA, social studies, and science with extra time devoted to electives such as foreign languages, computer programming, financial literacy, leadership and art. They simply need to complete their online work each day to fulfill attendance requirements.
We are also collaborating with an amazing company called Urban Workshop in Costa Mesa, to encourage participation in optional once-a-week trade skills classes, for 12 week courses available each fall and spring, from 9am-12pm on Thursdays. For students choosing to participate in these classes, we will be coordinating carpool for transportation and having those students return to the Redline facility for lunch and an afternoon training session from 1-2:30pm.
Throughout the year, our students will have opportunities to go on local educational field trips, visit private high schools for tours, and we are also planning a spring trip to Washington, DC!
While we don’t have a specific standard for physical fitness, skills, or knowledge prior to acceptance for LPAA, it’s important to remember that our students will be engaged in strength, conditioning, speed, agility and recovery training for 1.5 hours every day, up to 4 days a week. We focus heavily on sports psychology, including the unique mental and physical pressures our students are under. It is essential for us to create a team environment where all of our students are motivated and committed to pushing each other to set and achieve goals in both academic & athletic capacities. That being said, athletes of all kinds are encouraged to apply! Whether your child is involved in a team sport like football, travel baseball, soccer, basketball or volleyball, or is a runner, competitive dancer, surfer, or golfer, they would certainly benefit from daily athletic & nutritional training! The flexibility of online curriculum means your student can easily take their classes on the road if they are traveling often for athletic opportunities or needing recovery days at home.
If your child has demonstrated low academic performance for their grade level, they should be eligible to re-enroll for that grade with Excel Academy. Otherwise, if you still desire for them to repeat a grade for other reasons, they can enroll under a private school affidavit as a homeschool student and still be a part of the LPAA program. Please contact us to discuss your options.
At this time, 7th and 8th grade students can apply for the Life Prep program, including students reclassifying for one of those grades. All students enrolled with Excel Academy will receive state funding that can be used toward LPAA tutoring & training fees.
